Romans 8:28 (ESV)

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Guten Tag, my friend! (Good day, my friend!) I'm glad you joined me in this cozy tavern for a pint of beer and a hearty conversation. You look troubled today. What is weighing on your mind? Is it the troubles of this world, the persecution of the church, the corruption of the papacy, or something else?

Whatever it is, I have good news for you. God is working all things together for your good and his glory. He has called you according to his purpose, and he will not let you down. He is faithful and true, and he loves you with an everlasting love.

You may not see it now, but he is using your trials and tribulations to mold you into the image of his Son, Jesus Christ. He is refining your faith, strengthening your character, and preparing you for eternity. He is also using you as his instrument to spread his gospel, to reform his church, and to resist the devil.

So do not despair, my friend, but rejoice in the Lord always. He has given you his Word, his Spirit, and his grace to sustain you in this life. He has also given you his people, his church, to support you and encourage you along the way. You are not alone in this fight, but you have a mighty army of saints behind you.

Remember what I said once: "Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree." That's how confident I am in God's sovereignty and goodness. He holds the world in his hands, and he will not let it fall apart. He will accomplish his will, and he will make all things new.

So let us drink our beer, sing our hymns, and praise our God. He is worthy of all honor and glory, now and forevermore.

"God does not need your good works, but your neighbor does." - Martin Luther

Prayer:

Lord God, thank you for working all things together for my good and your glory. Thank you for calling me according to your purpose, and for giving me your Word, your Spirit, and your grace. Help me to trust you in all circumstances, to rejoice in you always, and to serve you faithfully. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
