How do you expect to become the next soap mongol with that attitude?

Who said I want to be a soapy Ghengis Khan? 🤷

I think this is where we get mixed up on the purpose of social media/role of influencers versus businesses who want to advertise services and products.

Content creators/influencers are producing the content that makes the social media experience so enjoyable. They are pushing things out sometimes multiple times a day to feed the algorithm gods and we get to enjoy that content whether or not they make money off of it.

On the other side - Advertisments SHOULD level the playing field for reaching the attention of people who are enjoying social media. It should be the way to "hack" the system and directly grab someone's attention. (But there should be a cost to using this hack)

Unfortunately legacy social media has abused their power to hold our attention hostage while they control everything we see. They make it hard to get in front of people via their compared algorithm.

Advertisers are often screwed in this business model and either have to pay (not knowing truly how many people see their stuff) or they have to churn out tons of content in hopes to become influencers to try to get "organic" growth.

I present an alternative to this via nostr:npub17vscfmnmshfdw68llhduxtr4h0kkmyhzm4phzs40t3gqsmguz7lsak66ne. An attention marketplace where people can set the price for their attention and advertisers set the price they are willing to pay. Every time there is a new Bitcoin block the marketplace sees if there is a match and shows the person ad. They get paid. Then keep scrolling.

They can then use the money they earned to zap content creators they like.

An actual circular economy!

Benefiting the people whose attention pays for everything, the advertisers who have businesses they want to honestly and transparently promote, and the content creators who will get paid via Value4value if their stuff is actually good.

And it's all opt-in. If someone doesn't want to see ads, they don't have to. Advertisers need a consensual advertising experience for potential customers.

I'll give it a look. 🫡
