The problem is that most countries have a federal income tax which is the most powerful way to raise revenue.
This makes the states / provinces dependent on the federal govt for handouts. It will be hard for these provinces to stay independent but I hope they can.
Alberta can - they have the oil. And Ontario is basically the economic engine of Canada for everything else
I was wondering if income taxes could just be increased and the funds redistributed to federal supporters? Can Alberta secede? I heard that Canada doesn’t even have a real constitution and the govt can opt out.
