Incentives are the signal.
We often hear or say, “follow the money, find the problem.”
From a first principles perspective, a step further and more accurate is: “understand the incentives, see the problem.” Then apply, “follow the money.”
Doing so will help see the whole picture. The actors and the problem, plus the solution.
