The problem is the data collection in the first place. They may be compelled to hand over such data or they could have a data breach, all actions beyond their control

Okay so having the data they could be compelled to give it up to governments. And that is true, they could.
But that is different than saying don't connect unless you want your node info to be sold to governments.
