My Last Day in Bitcoin Country – El Salvador

As my time in El Zonte, El Salvador, comes to an end, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible experience of living in a place where Bitcoin is seamlessly integrated into daily life Throughout my stay.

I relied entirely on Bitcoin for all my expenses, never needing to use the local currency.

This experience has shown me the true potential of a world where Bitcoin is widely accepted.

*former Bitcoin country. Damn shame.

How so? Seems like they’ve been buying more Bitcoin than ever

They caved to the imf to get a loan and now Bitcoin is not legal tender anymore.

Small concession to get billions of $ to buy BTC with.

I disagree. I have no interest in countries buying Bitcoin.

To me, it is much more important for countries to allow easier spending and cap against tax free purchases than it is for a country to buy a few Bitcoin daily.

Good point. I haven’t heard that spending Bitcoin is any more difficult in El Salvador than it was before. It’s just no longer mandated for for businesses accept Bitcoin, which I heard was never enforced anyway

I’ve never been there, though. Only getting info through Nostr and podcasts so my arguments are probably pointless

It's only been a week or 2. We shall see how they choose in the next year or so.

Absolutely. You have a good perspective on it

Amazing bro 🤙🏾

I want to visit too someday
