They’re mad because there’s an integrated custodial wallet, which is always a risk and I understand that. However, the fact that it’s part of the client means we have a better chance of using it to boostrap new users onto #zaps and then encourage them to learn how to self custody. All this does is remove the friction of having to find and install a separate custodial wallet at the start.

I said this when I was a crypto degen and I'll say it again after becoming a bitcoinet, its about convenience. Normal people don't want to learn new tricks for how they use money.
Most of us are onboard with self custody and spinning up nodes trying out clients and being on the cutting edge.
If you want to orange/purple pill the masses then figure ojy how to make the transition as painless and seamless as possible. They ate using #bitcoin without even realizing it. After time many will learn and adapt but its still new and scary to them.
I still remember my Dad's friends talking about the fear of using online bill payments when that was new.
You are absolutely right – but every time a custodial service rugs, it’s a major setback and turns a lot of people off, maybe for good. So I’ll continue to talk about these things, because it matters.
