Manyverse and the new version of SSB is no more.

> Building social media or social networks is not interesting to me anymore. These platforms seem like they're mostly strangers talking to strangers, where relationships are dependent on shared interests or shared opinions.

That is the crux of it. At some point, we just get tired of talking to strangers. What’s the point? Investing so heavily in something that pays so little. Imagine if we invested that much time into our real life connections.

Can Nostr facilitate *that*? I think it can. I would love to see municipalities run nostr relays for their communities. Let tax dollars pay for it the server upkeep.

Very sad loss for SSB, but I'm really happy for Andre to be so fulfilled by his real community that he has lost interest in social media. I agree with much of what he says about its value. And I agree with you that "digital localism" is an exciting goal, which hopefully can complement real life interactions.

Fair enough social media is a leach

I should clarify that I think Manyverse and PPPPP will carry on with new maintainers. I wish them the best!

“Imagine if we invested that much time into our real life connections.”

Yes. I’m all for focusing on real life connections, and I hope Nostr can facilitate that.

Most people, potential users, are and always will be:

1. Lazy

2. Bitch and moan aboht censorship but never use the alternative even when shoved right in their face
