Onboarded a new person today to Nostr using a nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcqyrgm6venxueae3q37rhgjwechpfzlsx7yfll73vanyzyemv7v4vpkz3dmep invite.

Worked well but then I wanted them to have Amber so they don't keep the nsec in the Nostr client.

(and install it using Obtainium obviously)

Then I have to explain how relays work (because it's Nostr)

It is still a bit of a pain to onboard new users even though nostr:nprofile1qqsp0c5gn7aqzqsaqj9p8lgt5yy26vwrsvnzj4rqcg0xn3pl4ra729g4a0ds9 is doing a very good job to try to simplify that.

Totally feel this. Onboarding still has a few “Nostr moments” 😅

That said, nostr:npub1zl3g38a6qypp6py2z07shggg45cu8qex992xpss7d8zrl28mu52s4cjajh is doing an awesome job smoothing out the rough edges.

Thanks for onboarding more people! Unfortunately, remote signers don't have a quick and easy setup method. I would like to implement a way to scan QR code with private key, together with the other details like relays, into for example Amber and have it automatically setup everything. This is not part of the NIP though.

I have done the next best thing, add support for client initiated nostrconnect. Previously it only supported making connection string in remote signer first, now you can scan QR code presented by Nostria, to connect with for example Amber.

If you already have your account on Amber, it's now (when next update is released) super-smooth to login.
