I think switching career industries is pretty fun! It gives you an edge because you have a completely different lens; fresh eyes so to speak.

I’m switching from leading teams 10+ years in Telecommunications industry to leading teams in the Construction industry.

Probably not a bad idea since I want to build my own little citadel one day. 😁

Fear would tell someone YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOURE DOING.

My mind is telling me, you go girl! Forge that path miss thang! 💪🏻

Don’t be afraid to try something new.

yes, 🙌

I'm trying to switch from manufacturing to technology after leading teams for almost 10 years but companies seems to be unaware of the nature of transferable skills.

Seems like they all want "IT background" to be able to "roll up my sleeves" when needed to help the team I would lead.....

Speak to technology experience while there - companies only know what you tell them - be confident and don’t doubt yourself

Nice. GC side?

I haven’t started my first day yet - still working on lingo.. what’s GC?

General Contracting? 🤔

Yep General Contractor

😂 good guess on my part - Give me a week, I’ll know the lingo by then.

Yes - for some - I work for the parent corporate company but we have acquisition companies across the US. So all sides.

A boss of bosses then. Welcome to the industry! 💪🏼

Ohhh you’re in it? 👀

Going on 13+ years 💪🏼

Oh really? What’s your specialty? May want to pick your brain a time or two. 😁

I tend to be the go-to for structural but try to stay educated across all trades. I focus on estimating/buy out. We work on larger jobs only $50-100M and up. Lots of good resources around me too. Shoot a message anytime

Excellent! Are you localized or national? Both? Do you attend any of the trade shows?

I’m SoCal / Vegas focused now but our company is national. I used to hit up AISC and World of Concrete but haven’t in a couple years… definitely worth checking out- lots of good learning. There’s so many more depending on your focus. Big world.

Very cool! I know I’ll be flying around to a lot of them.
