Actually I heard about a mysterious hypothetical way to do something similar. Distort the space time fabric similar to an accordion. You travel usual but arrive sooner than a light beam in the usual space time fabric.

In order to due so, we have to understand how exactly space within the Universe is moving. The consensus is mixed on this: expansion, multiverse, planes, heading towards death, some more darker theories, etc.
I subscribe to the multiverse theory as practical quantum theories align and only makes sense with it.
Very, very interesting.
But eager to learn more about other theories as well.
