So the e-bike sharing app Tier was taken over by Dott and so far it's instant #enshittification.

The most annoying thing, and this seems to be a trent, is their support staff doesn't speak Dutch and uses machine translation. Without permission (everything I say is presumably sent through a US cloud) and with no way to opt out. Because Dutch people don't speak English obviously.

So now when I reply I have to guess how the AI is going to mange my Dutch, and when reading their reply what the original English was.

I have my own e-bike of course, but sometimes these shared bikes are handy.

The app is a nightmare too, I wish someone would use their API to build an open source client with lightning payments

Haven't been able to try it, because their creditcard backend doesn't support 3D Secure. Which means it doesn't work with any EU issued card (it's basically mandatory). But instead of admitting that, they just tell customers to contact their bank (presumably to turn it off, which is insane).

Their license in #Utrecht requires them to open up in some sense, not sure if that could be used to add third party app with lightning?

Always worked fine with my Revolut card, not sure if it has 3DSecure but sometimes I had to confirm payments in the Revolut app.

It seems like they have an API and the integrator can choose the payment method

But that's Tier, will Dott be the same?

> Registering a payment method is completely optional, as we allow the partners to take over payment method integration on their side and then create a monthly billing process between TIER and the partner.

So you take on some risk and probably have to deal with AML/KYC shit if you want to offer this...

Yeah could also happen that Dott discontinues the API randomly and the integration becomes worthless...
