If you’re north of 40 then you probably have a good sized 401K/retirement account.

Not owning MSTR in that account is a mistake you will regret. IMO.

I could also argue playing the GBTC arb but that could be considered shitcoiny. Still it is what it is.

The battle is real & the ultimate move is converting the entire thing to a BTC retirement account like Unchained etc. but that isn’t reality for many yet. Lots of potential tax issues to consider.

I almost started a Roth pre-Bitcoin. Dodged a tax bullet. I’ll probably open up an unchained account at some point in the future though.

I’ve talked to them. I’m going to act this week I think. I’ve been on the “some point in the future” ride too long with it.

Sounds like a good plan. I’m still pretty young and haven’t accumulated enough assets to justify having a traditional retirement account like that, but it seems like it’s a great service that I’ll want to use someday.

Yup. Age matters.

Retirement accounts are designed to lock money into the shitcoin casino. To beat inflation, another shitcoin concept. Bitcoin brings back the simplicity and virtue of saving money.

Yes this is true. I would be using unchained as a form of “diversification” of holdings.

👆✅

Yes. Agree with that entire statement. I’m also not 20 so dealing with reality is real. BTC didn’t exist before 2008.

To minimize looting by IRS thieves, it is better to roll a 401k into unchained. But I oppose contributing new bitcoin or dollars to unchained because it is KYC, which makes it subject to looting. And it is objectively morally wrong to fund the war state.

I did unchained. I would highly recommend. The $250 annual fee is peanuts when you consider how much asset management custodial service really cost a saver holding a shitcoin portfolio over the years.

Been thinking about this a lot. Don’t know what to do with mine. If I managed to move it to BTC I’d have like 95% of all of my life’s earnings in BTC which is likely the play but I still get reluctant sometimes. Also been thinking about buying some MSTR

First step is MSTR for sure. Then you can wait for the ETF approvals to get “exposure” to BTC at the % comfortable.

I know, I know, not what a maxi would say but the real world exists as well and to your point, these retirement accounts represent many many years of labor.

I rolled my 401k (foolishly?) into a self directed IRA.

I am trying to sell all my bull shit stocks and other legal assets and buy more corn.

This is the way. Not sure why rolling into self directed is foolish but I’m sure there’s a reason.

I felt I rushed into unchained. Sold the whole portfolio and bought bitcon at around 50k. Been sitting at a loss for about 2 years.

Foolish: I have no idea how this turns out. From irs audits? regulation on self custody? I die and wife can't figure it out, etc.

I did this exact thing. I wanted exposure and saw nostr:npub15dqlghlewk84wz3pkqqvzl2w2w36f97g89ljds8x6c094nlu02vqjllm5m as the best way for my Roth. My investment co wouldn’t let me invest, so I moved a chunk to a self managed account and bought. It was ugly for a while and wish I’d have bought more at 137…but hey it’s always good to wish you had more. I know straight BTC is best, but as you said, it’s not easy for everyone to convert retirement funds into BTC.
