Trump tariffs will only worsen our situations here in the US. As shown below in the 1930s after the great " crash" of the stock market the administration mived hastly to impose tarriffs on trade to rectify their issues and it only concluded to exacerbate them.

This quote from ‘The Art of the Deal’ seems relevant here. Don’t underestimate the possibility that Trump is using exaggeration as a way to maximize leverage in foreign negotiations.
“My style of deal-making is quite simple and straightforward. I aim very high, and then I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing to get what I’m after. Sometimes I settle for less than I sought, but in most cases I still end up with what I want.”
As someone from the other side of the world, we are watching to see how this will play out. Will he honour free trade agreements or throw them out?
Our import/export businesses have become a lot more flexible over the last few years as a result of China halting trade in specific goods. This new found flexibility may see trade pivot away from the US as a protective measure before any decision is even made.
