Question:

Is it possible to run linux in a VM environment on windows, specifically for a full BTC node?

Overview:

I'm running a full node on Raspberry PI V and not too happy with it. It runs fine, I just struggle getting other services to run with any stability.

I do have a very beefy windows box (gaming machine) that is lightly used for other things.

Details:

I don't want a dual-boot environment (I can do that.)

I want to run windows 11 24/7 but also a virtual session of Linux (any flavor) for a full node/ lightning node, mempool, etc.

Windows is already installed on a 2TB SSD.

I have a 2TB SSD in my Raspberry PI running start 9. It's a full node and it's been running for months.

Can I bring over that SSD and re-use the copy of the blockchain and dedicate that SSD to the full node?
