A great book to read is ‘Case Against Reality’ by Douglas Hoffman. He argues that spacetime is an interface we evolved and is information, not actually reality.

I enjoy Hoffman but remain steadfast in my belief that perception, even as a derived property of reality, remains tethered to the inputs which cause it.

Bit of a tangent but Wolfram argues that merging the ideas of space and time into spacetime was a mistake by Minkowski. It was convenient for the math but he claims they’re fundamentally distinct:
