Exactly. Growing up in a religious cult and escaping it taught me that people usually do things out of habit and tradition, and not because the really have any idea *why* they've always done it that way. After leaving the cult I did a René Descartes and jettisoned all the beliefs I had been *told* were true and started to analyze what I *really* knew to be true -- and why. It's eye opening how much we really know based on experience and how much we *think* we know based on what we've been told.
