If it applies to something in our time then it makes me think of how CBDCs could be used by a state or world government that is very much opposed to Christ.

But I suppose you first have to consider what framework of interpretation it should be understood from. I recently was loaned an old book called The Last Things by George Ladd, which explains two of the main ways in which Bible prophecy is interpreted.

One is dispensationalism, which is the most common one in places like the US, and is the interpretation method used by the authors of the popular Left Behind book series from a couple decades ago.

The other is apparently commonly known as covenantal theology. But I think can be called other things too.

The book argues for the latter, and points out loads of difficulties created by the former. But I haven't got far enough in to properly understand it all yet. I could report back in a few weeks once I finally get through it if you like. Might give me the motivation I need to make myself read it!
