Diversity of race/sex/gender/sexual preferences means nothing. Ultimately what matters is diversity of thought, which allows the best ideas to compete and show their worth. What the Democratic party did over time was parade diversity of things that don't matter as "progressive" while silently pushing out anybody with opposing ideas. This caused the extremists in the party to run amok and take control over time, along with the most corrupt who could easily take advantage of the situation. Meanwhile, the opposing party assimilated all of their best and sane people, leaving only the extremists and corrupt to run the party. That's why they have completely imploded and have absolutely nobody on deck. I don't see where the Democrats go from here. They will probably go the way of the Whigs.
