I don't set root tags on purpose because having it as an e tag is toxic. Should have been r or anything other than e but it's too late to change now.

I don't want to receive the whole thread when querying the direct replies to a root post. Waste of precious mobile data.

You don’t need to use #e … if you only want to pull the note you’re replying to just do {ids:[root]}
