I've had money and I've been broke, in my experience having money is better.

I agree, but there’s more to happiness than just having money.. I remember reading that having money can buy freedom, what we do with that freedom is the important part

I also agree, money is just a tool that helps get to happiness.

It's like a car vs walking. You can still get to you destination but the car makes it easier and quicker.

Though if you walked you may be in better health and live longer. Both are valid forms of transportation.
