Today we asked our boss for a pay rise due to inflation over the past few years.
He said that we have to get used to the fact that wages and working conditions are getting worse over time.
When he started working, all employees were given their own office. He was the first employee not to get one and he also was paid less than the others. We have to accept that, as he did.

He's not wrong. Don't know where you are but it's the same here in Germany. We earn very well and still can't really afford much of a lifestyle. We're also getting raises well below inflation.
I don't know where you live, but in Europe employers are unreasonable regarding salary negotiation and yearly adjustments.
It's up to the employee to find a new job with a new employer every 3 years and so to be able to keep up with real inflation.
