Definitely. Sometimes I don't even know the genre and it prevents me from figuring out potential plot
However "The Current War" didn't want to work properly on my smart TV and I had to switch to plan B which was "Hardcore" from 1979. I wanted to see it because it was an inspiration for "X" with Mia Goth. I think it aged really well

I was half-expecting some cringe but it's pretty solid
It's meant to be great,bi have put it off for no reason. Paul Schrader is often great. First Reformed is worth a watch if you haven't seen. Not that I want to get in the way of your wife film algo.
Maybe you can onboard your wife. Or failing that keep posting her film recommendations lol
