Espinosa de los Monteros is one of the main towns in Las Merindades, the area were the Kingdom of Castile originated, its name meaning land of castles.
The monteros were a body of the Castilian Royal Guard whose function was the night guard of the bedroom of the Kings of Castile. The organization was established in the year 1006 and they were always noblemen from the town of Espinosa. #spain #photography
