I want to build a horizontal hive! The economics of doing one-off projects defeats me so I’d love to get involved. My wife kept bees in her childhood. I’ve got a suit that fits, but that’s the extent of my knowledge and equipment..

A suit that fits? The horizontal hives are neat, wish I could help more hands on with the builds, but as a trucker my time is very limited currently!
I think our group from the KC FreedomCell has built/is working on about 12 traps and 6-8 hives? We met up through Telegram back around election day in 2020, and a core of us have been on there or doing things together in person ever since. The traps are running about $75 and the hives a bit over $200.
Ya sorry. I’m saying I’ve got a bee suit that fits and that’s the extent of my beekeeping. I was supposed to get hives this spring, but the guy backed out so here I am. I’m on telegram, but I haven’t successfully linked up with any KCFC guys yet.
A bee suit… duh, was thinking why are you telling me? Am just a blue collar trucker and don’t own any suits… not even a bee suit! 😂
Several of us on the Telegram group have been working to build hives and traps, frames, etc. My son and I were at the first build party at Mike’s farm, a couple other folks made it too. Haven’t been able to help since, but Mike is bringing up three traps to get us started, the hives are still under construction
😆
I live near some county woods. There is bee activity, but it is scattered. The drones are super peaceful. I want some! I suspect there are small hives for the taking all around me, but they lack a robust hive maybe? I’ve been completely overrun with bees once or twice though when I get frosting buckets and leave them out to clean.
I’ve met maybe 10-12 of the KCFC folks and didn’t have problems with any of them… all seemed decent folks to me. Some I’ve gotten to know better than others, but as a trucker and having moved 100 miles up I-35, hard to be able to collaborate much
