when you feel a strong emotion, you'll want to believe the attached thought even more.
if you find yourself having a strong emotional reaction, say "i'm having a believed thought that...[insert thought]"
this gives you a little distance from the thought and you might even then be able to challenge it.
most of our emotional distress is based on learned conditioning, not what's actually happening.
