Honeysuckle doesn't damage trees, it's just that it's a climber and likes strong supports, so it climbs trees/fences. It gives off a sweetish smell attracting insects to the garden. On the downside it is very fond of aphids and some species are susceptible to powdery mildew but you need to read up on this
