Been working for a while to get a private nostr RS Relay going via startOS and unfortunately it's just not working out for me ๐Ÿ˜‘

I've made sure to:

- properly whitelist my hex pubkey via the relay config

- add my Nostr Relay Websocket URL (e.g. ws://

.onion) to my Nostr client relay list

- access nostr via the Tor Browser on manjaro linux

- make sure tor is running on my linux machine as well as vis SSH for startOS

All I really care about is self-hosting my notes and I thought this would be easier ๐Ÿ™ƒ if anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it!

I haven't hosted my own relay yet (will be though, eventually) or dealt with StartOS yet. I can try to help you out, though. First, a few questions:

1. What is/are the error messages that you're seeing?

2. Why did you choose this particular OS and relay? When I got to StartOS repo it says: "StartOS is in beta. It lacks features. It doesn't always work perfectly. Start9 servers are not plug and play." If you are just starting, it doesn't sound like the first OS to try because you may not understand the issue you run into to troubleshoot and the likelihood of running into issues on beta software is high.

3. Why are you using Tor while setting it up? It seems like an unneeded layer of complication right out of the gate (unless the government or governments are after you). You're setting up a Nostr not a Tor relay, right? So test with a Nostr client. Turn off all peoxies like Orbot and vpns and get it working in as simple setup as you can first. Once it works like that, then you can start adding layers of complication one at a time (like Tor)

4. Did you read through and follow everything in the Readme:
