my trip to pick up my red lights down the road

the most important thought i had along the way was this:
the things i see on the hills, how did that ever be profitable to do
this to me is a picture of fiat robbery

Beautiful place!
I'm not sure building on hills indicates fiat robbery. I'm thinking of the ancient Greek city states... They built plenty on hills.
I'm thinking it probably indicates two things. People were less mobile in the past, so investments had to be closer to home. Couldn't go looking in another country for higher returns, or not as easily.
And the cost of construction is a lot higher now than in the past, relative to other expenses. Now our buildings are made of flimsy paper and it costs 3 lifetimes of wages to build one. That's fiat distortion.
yeah, i agree, transport was less and so the relative cost of developing stuff nearby was definitely a thing
but it's so beautiful, and most of it is in ruins, and most of it is less than 100 years old, anything older than that is turning back into forest
Hard money will allow us more freedom to build in remote but beautiful places. I'm bullish on beauty
