'Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Nazi Party in my head?' - Nina Power's response to the court case.

'there are never enough Nazis to meet demand, so you have to create them'

This all seems so antiquated and some of these cancel campaigns have lost their power (for public figures outside of normal workplaces at least).

But then you remember #Bluesky exists, which is sort of a Wayback Machine for the revivalists and larpers of Left Twitter 2010s. Bluesky have similarly made Nostr a bogeyman to rally against and slander. (I would suggest it is at least partly cos Bluesky is slightly insecure about their own protocol being 'too white' and 'privileged' .... Aka Whitesky lol).

The left use BlueSky!? I didn't think anyone used BlueSky. Maybe they do, I never made an account as I didn't give the vibe. It is odd that so many on the left reject the indie web for corporate platforms. I've tried to get people on the Fediverse with little luck. One comment was 'why would I want to hang out with a bunch of Linux nerds'.

It doesn't bother me though, I'm very happy with my internet choices. Nostr b2b Fediverse gives a nice balanced outlook on the world without being crushed by babylon.

Its a particular flavour of Left. The sort that cry in the office and change their pronouns at least once a year. Usually found in govt or HR.

There are Indie Web Leftists - I used to post on Secure Scuttlebutt a lot, it leans hard Left.

I have the bridges to Mastodon and Bluesky on, and it's WILD. The most stereotypically deranged woke nazis, crazier than ever.

I like the Fediverse, been there since 2019 when I trashed all the corporate bs internet. Lots of friends on there and the music scene is way bigger than here (even considering the proportional differences).

Woke is such a funny word twisted in all kinds of ways until it’s just ‘people I don’t like’.

I like crazy people, there’s a lot of nut cases on Nostr as well, just a different kind.

In my humble opinion people need to chill and accept we’re not all the same and that’s cool.

I think everyone is pretty much sick 'cancel culture' and the reverse side of the coin 'woke bashing'. Mostly everyone is tired of it, but they both refuse to go away lol

You can tell it's a tired theme when politicians stand on 'woke bashing' platforms now.

That's because woke and right are the same.

Well that's the problem. The woke (remember the label started as a self-denominator, it wasn't given by opponents, just made into a parody) are the most intolerant group of people.

They hold radically hateful views of those who disagree with them and don't contemplate the idea of just let everyone be and do whatever the hell they want as long as they don't harm others. The excuse of course is that "being" a certain way is already an offense and an attack on them, so there's no escape from the hate.

I argue that in the end they are the other side of the coin of their Evangelical parents. They've been raised in an equally intolerant environment, and they react against it, but with the same mindset.

It was a term originating in the black community to mean switched on. I don't know who then brought it to the wider culture, maybe Jack Dorsey... Anyway, the pejorative use has got pretty lame, for the reasons stated before.

There's a lot of intolerant people about, Karl Popper said some shit on the subject...

All kinds of people have been labelled woke, this post is probably woke, the letter J is definitely woke and hair is wokest of all. I don't think it's just the rebellious children of evangelicals. All the things are true as are none of the things true.

Lumping loads of people into one group doesn't work for me. I'd rather deal with people on a case by case basis, although some will have a greater level of distrust from me at the outset (I'm thinking politicians and finance people on podcasts).

Before woke there was political correctness, after woke there DEI. A lot of people are always looking to 'other' people. Fortunately here's some Frank Zappa. #OtherPeople https://yewtu.be/watch?v=ffZ4aOXcGR8&listen=1
