Why cryptomator?

Its a great way to encrypt files within potentially untrustworthy cloud services like Google Drive or iCloud. It kind of creates a vault that only you hold keys to.
But it's not yours if it's on their servers.
Sure, but with Cryptomator the cloud provider only owns a pile of encrypted jibberesh instead of your actual files.
How is it retrieved then if it's not your actual files?
