Hoping to have a paid damus strfry relay soon. Will be enabled when you sign up for damus purple, and you'll be able to join externally as well with lightning.

Will the relay have some add on service, ex. spam protection or backup?

paid is initial spam protection. If people pay and start spamming I could build a spam report interface and kick them off. Backup is a good idea as well.
