Good morning Michael, I usually refill when it is toward the bottom of the cup, I usually have sacred 7 mushroom extract in my coffee too so that keeps the sediment in every cup
I use sacred 7 as well. Also use a French press, so there is always mud in the bottom. Lol
I only drink tea, so I finish a cup and then brew another. I rarely make use of my teapots (I have two), but I'd not considered the temperature aspect of an intermittent filling procedure...

I drink tea in the winter, and I normally finish a cup before refilling as well. I like green tea in the winter in the afternoons to warm me up. I'm cold natured
