You don't need a direct channel between every single user. Instead, you can route payments through interconnected nodes, reducing the need for everyone to have a bunch of channels.
Plus, there are new tech advancements like channel factories and multi-party channels that are designed to improve scalability. These allow multiple users to share a single UTXO while keeping everything secure and trustless. This means fewer on-chain UTXOs are needed, making it more practical for a lot of people to use the network without each needing their own UTXO🤷
