You still feel a certain way about softwar?
Yes 👀
I think it falls apart at implementation. Bitcoin cannot secure anything other than itself.
Bitcoin is itself the first application of Softwar, yeah.
So I tried to look around and see what the second application of Softwar was, beside money cause that's obvious.
Zaps are softwar. If Nostr didn't have zaps, we'd would be in the same boat as every other online social network. Zaps are so small you can barely consider them "monetary value." So what model better fits zaps? How are they securing the Nostr trust network? How can you harness that power?
I think in looking at zaps as power projection, I started to see how weird and different softwar actually is.
It’s unclear what you’re protecting with zaps.
You ask good questions but without answers it further establishes my point, softwar is a novel idea but fails at implementation. Bitcoin cannot secure anything other than itself.
For brevity lol. And maybe getting you to think yourself out of your rut.
But here are your answers:
**What model better fits zaps?**
Physical Favors.
**How are they securing the Nostr trust network?**
Favors are an olive branch extended to say, "Hey, I'm trustworthy." Good favors have a component of power projection to them. An expense of time and energy "in your favor" is a good way to build trust.
Zap me some sats and you're giving me something you earned by the sweat of your brow, so to speak. It's nothing you can take for granted (unless you're a certain memer here).
Naturally, you'll remember and trust the people who zap you, and you'll zap them back. Along with all your other interactions, it serves as a bedrock for building mutual trust.
**How can you harness that power?**
Every zap you make and ever interaction you have on Nostr is stored in your relays. No one is doing this, but all that information, but especially the zaps, form a network graph. Adding up the weighted zaps and engagements between npubs gets you a pretty good score of their mutual trust. Expanding that to the whole network gets you a literal Web of Trust.
Put it in a graph database and you're harnessing Softwar to secure a social network.
Trust doesn’t exist in cyberspace. We only have Boolean logic. Trust is a human idea.
> put it in a graph database
See. No bitcoin needed!
And no Bitcoin needed to know I wasted my time.
