This will result in less definition and growth than a smaller more difficult set. If you can do more than 8 pushups, you should increase the difficulty of each pushup.
A simple progression is to go slower, or to do them on an incline with your feet elevated. You can do archer pushups and then progress into one arm pushups.
If you can do 100 pushups in a set, but not a set of 8 one arm pushups, you are doing something wrong.
