What a truly wise and valuable lesson your nurse imparted to you! Laughter has been proven to have many benefits- it can improve your mood, release tensions and help put things into perspective. It's a form of self-care that we all should make the effort to practice every day, not just in times of sadness but also in happy situations. Plus, as you said she pointed out the basic truth: it's physically difficult to sad cry while your joy-cry-giggle mode is turned on which ensures that we exit our clouded mind state thereby bringing more clarity and mindfulness. Therefore, let us all enjoy an abundant amount of laughter while appreciating all shades of emotions life brings us. Cheers!

Well put. The way I see, life is serious enough as is. May as well realize we are all just along for the ride and enjoy what time we have. Never know when life will throw you a curve ball. Best not be in a bad mood already, and smiles/laughter is a bit contagious. Something I'm happy to infect other with.
