Bario salt found in the highlands of Borneo, from a salt spring that has been long a Sarawak tribal practice (Kelabit) in salt production. Back in the days it was used to preserve meat, cooking and also health preventive maintenance (tribal way). This salty spring water is evaporated, put into bamboos pipes and burnt to harden it, and later wrapped in big leaves to keep it dry. It’s brownish, unbleached natural process of obtaining salt. This is a small tribe of slightly over a thousand Kelabit people still residing up on the highlands of Borneo.
