I used to work for a renewable energy company that was building its own wind infrastructure. When I proposed a pilot program to use bitcoin mining to take advantage of the excess production during low demand periods I was laughed at. I was told by one of the directors that they couldn't even discuss the word “bitcoin” publicly because they didn’t want to upset thier investors and they thought it would turn away customers and discourage job candidates.
