Inflation hammering people in Costa Rica. They also lost faith in Colon years ago so started saving in dollars. Economic understanding is not high enough. I swapped my dollars for colones last March and recommended to people to swap at least a little as the flood of USD coming into the country with all these millionaires trying to escape statist chaos up north was going to drive a huge colon rally. Well nobody I know swapped. That’s another 20% loss of purchasing power. Is it really surprising people are looking for alternatives? I get asked about Bitcoin nearly daily now.

People are literally being financially driven out of their areas they grew up in due to inflation. I pay a gardener and cleaner every week and have increased the hourly rate I pay them by 50% in 2 years. I don’t even know if that’s enough but they definitely need better price stability soon.
