Often fills the entire feed up with one note, it carries less signal than all other interactions, except reactions, and it's sometimes pointless on community relays, where everyone is looking at the same feed.

I believe reposts are needed for:

1) Blasting notes from new accounts out.

2) resurfacing old notes especially if there is no algo in play.

On a community level, point number 2 makes more sense.

Many issues can be solved with better rendering.

Ah, but reposts are an event kind, not a broadcasting mechanism. We should maybe just make broadcasting more prominent.

And you can actually "drag" notes onto our community relay by simply referencing it in the content of your note, as we fetch it from relays and render it as embedded.

Or highlight it. Not enough highlighting going on. Much better spec than reposts and quotes.

Highlighting isn't native in any client that I use.
