Got it initially for the absence of ads on YouTube. YouTube music is a great bonus. With the family plan everyone gets his own profile!
I was about to support our choice with how they pay artists well but looks like things have changed in recent years 😬 YouTube Music used be #3 
Catalogue on Amazon music is quite small. They pay more per stream but that doesn’t mean much with a small catalogue 🤔
Anyone know what Tidal is like? I might switch 😅

Apparently it's got a huge catalogue and great audio quality. No audio books and hardly any podcasts but honestly am I really gonna listen to audio books? I have around 6-700 physical books to read which should keep me busy 😂 and can always get an app for podcasts. Plus the artists get paid well 🙏. I was on the fence but then it started pouring down with rain and I count that as a sign. Also it's got a free trial which is nice.

Some of the best products spend $0 on marketing and bank on the product quality advertising itself via word of mouth. Kinda like Sriracha!

No. But it’s probably good you’re learning to be skeptical early. Also be ready for AI to lie to you about identity.
I’ve been able to detect AI when the response is really long and overly polite/cheerful.

Ah man, this one was honest - although I should have known, it's name was Cyborg and it said it was AI in its bio 😅 we're all allowed dopey moments though right. Just call me spongbob 🥹. I’m finding stuff that I couldn’t find on YouTube music. I like that when I search for a track it goes to the real version right away. In YouTube it would default to the censored version sometimes
Agree, the sound quality is 💯. This app is sexy. Can an app be sexy? I dunno but this one is. First song I tried was 'Come As You Are' Nirvana cos the quality was always meh on YouTube Music, so wanted to be sure I could hear a difference and damn. It's 👌. Full body tingles. And same! Better options 😍
I like Tidal. Switched from Spotify. Cleaner user interface. Ability to listen with better sound quality. I listen to music more often now. Spotify did have some better playlists. Many of them were user generated though. I didn’t care to listen to podcasts or audiobooks on Spotify. So it wasn’t a loss to me. I am having the issue of Tidal using a ridiculous amount of storage on my phone. I need to dig into why.
Yess I was thinking about Spotify, I had it once, but I figure no point going back if it couldn't keep me hooked. That all sounds great 😍 excited to try something new - except the storage 🤔
Apparently it’s a quirk of iOS and listening to atmos sound quality tracks. On your device it will say you have videos downloaded. They need a way to quickly clear the cache. Right now I’m going through and deleting them one by one. Or I could just delete and reinstall the entire app. It’s annoying AF. Can’t believe they haven’t found a workable solution to this yet.

These weren’t downloaded tracks. According to a Reddit thread when you stream atmos tracks iOS stores them as downloaded videos. Tidal on my iPhone got to using 14GB of storage before I was like WTF. I deleted and reinstalled Tidal. Problem solved.

You could probably listen to it on a lower sound quality setting but that defeats the purpose of why I have Tidal. 🤷🏼♀️
So if I understand correctly, when you set it to High it’s always atmos ?
Depends on the track. When you set it to high it will automatically play the highest sound quality available.

I’m kind of addicted to the Daily Discovery playlist. It gets better as you use Tidal. Occasionally there’s an off day. It’s now become a daily routine. I’ve joked with friends sometimes I love it so much it’s getting to “Her” levels of affection. So many songs are love songs. So I went through a spell where my Daily Discovery was literally just like a new curated playlist of love songs for me. 🫶🏻
This looks right to me (as someone whos main job was artist payouts at a record label for a good 5 years). Apple Music revenue was always on top.
