Venerable John lived in Wallachia in the 15th century. Captured by Tatar raiders, he was tortured to renounce his faith, but he refused. He was dragged behind a horse until he died, his body left in the field. A light shone upon his relics until Christians recovered them, and many miracles have been attributed to his intercession.
