I recently had a conversation with nostr:npub1xapjgsushef5wwn78vac6pxuaqlke9g5hqdfjlanky3uquh0nauqx0cnde (Shinobi) about the dangers of #drivechain and his debate with Paul Sztorc from nostr:npub1nevsewvjqhrsmpfcpdqw6v3e9f6z8w9sq0yt8kpndk2cumw8g6hs5mjmve

In the debate, Shinobi is attempting to create a scenario where drivechain could potentially effect L1 (because that is the ONLY thing that matters with a soft fork).

A scenario is imagined where Amazon creates a sidechain that has a single node and costs $10,000,000/yr to run. Bitcoiners flock to it because "the value proposition is you can use your Bitcoin with Amazon". Through a whole bunch of conspiracies and stupid Bitcoiners joining the sidechain, Amazon gains control of L1 hashing power.

Okay, fine. So I asked Shinobi why Amazon cannot do this right now with a federated sidechain. I have not received an answer. nostr:npub1ej493cmun8y9h3082spg5uvt63jgtewneve526g7e2urca2afrxqm3ndrm also believes drivechain leads to mining centralization, so I’m interested in his thoughts too.
