In nature offspring are typically not cared for by the male, this conquest is simply a natural mandate to spread gametes opportunistically, it is also a natural mandate for females to be selective when they’re not being forced to participate. Massive peer competition too. The tale of procreation is filled with treachery, deceit, and strategy. To be successful, males must be skillful tacticians. Culture has definitely shifted the priorities in human reproduction though.
