Apparently fediverse folks are flipping out about bridges between ActivityPub and Bluesky’s atproto.
Just look at these issues they’re submitting to the bridge’s github project:

The level of idiocy I've seen on #Bluesky has me at peace if there never exists a bridge between it and #Nostr
Reminds me of the WhatsApp chain messages from ten years ago 'I hereby declare Facebook doesn't have my consent to spy on me'
A sensible reply to most of them from the developer has been posted.
“I'm working on a new opt in idea, https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/835#issuecomment-1942046208, hopefully it can replace the original pure opt out. Apologies for not figuring it out sooner.”
How dumb does a protocol have to be for it to require you to force someone else to curate your feed?
I really don’t understand why… do people understand that social networks aren’t private? Lots of private services exist. An open social network isn’t one of them.
Completely using the wrong tool for the job.
I read through the #atprotocol docs. I think they got identity right where, frankly, nostr got identity wrong.
Nostr doesn’t think left nor right of the private key.
atprotocol identity layer provides an account recovery key and process that does not require burning down and rebuilding your social network just because someone gets one device compromised.
Nostr needs to take a lesson on identity from #atprotocol on making things better for mainstream users.
