Honestly, it's way too hard to be pseudonymous and too easy to get doxxed. I suspect that had a large part to do with why Satoshi disappeared so early.

The temptation to keep playing Satoshi, after everyone else had stopped, would be quite high. Doubt.
He was incredibly good at hide-and-seek and took things very seriously. The fact that it's never been found makes it all the more mysterious and wonderful to keep building and believing
