Someone is gonna surprise us with a novel mobile Linux OS, graphene seems to be doomed by Google
Discussion
Hmm. How do you figure?
I see demand for it, like a lot, among super nerds
Ah, I meant the GrapheneOS bit.
Ohh just a sense because Google hates all things good. I saw some graphene devs complaining about something google changed but they might have found a workaround. I'm not in it ya know, just my intuition
ASOP is no longer developed as FOSS. They ship the source along with binaries. So the GrapheneOS team lose the advantage of time.
NixOS Mobile?!?

I tried a couple Linux phone operating systems a couple years ago. They were not near reliable enough to use as a daily driver.

We can do it today, there just isn't a system that combines the right things yet
I like bits and pieces from so many distros... i'm not a distro hopper! i'm a distro hover... 😁
You can run android apps on Linux via waydroid
Yep. very useful... i run waydroid on nixos desktop... it works most of the time, but some apps hang and force me to restart the whole session... I want an os that lets me crack and run a dedicated GPS on any cheap android... ideas? edgemap seems to be raspberry pi only? i'm tired of spending $600+ on garmin truck gps units that don't even let me delete or suppress/hide fuel stops that are detrimental to my delivery route. For crying out loud, garmin doesn't even know that Saint is St in Saint Louis!?!?! It refuses to verbally find ANY address in St. Louis!!!! It trys to phonetically pronounce the state postal abbreviations!!!! The 911 addressing SUCKS! WTH!
Nope I don't know enough to develop anything yet or really inform much. We definitely need someone to do something though
