Where do we draw the line in open source?

In 5 years of working in Bitcoin, there’s one thing I see everyday: people repost graphics but first, they remove your logo.

I used to get annoyed when people did it. Now I’m mostly flattered. But still.

Bitcoiners: we fight for transparency, honesty, and strong incentives… so if someone or a company shares something you like, keeping their logo is the least you can do:)

Strong agree. ⚡️

Even if I don't post them in Nostr meme contests, memes I create still get entered. 😂🤣

It's as old as time. Copying is easy.

The above image is copied & posted without attribution 😂

You created that? Well done, Laura! 👏🏻

And promote a specific company/service? Good memes are brandless

Is Jameson involved with BitBox?

Well said

I'm 💯 pro closed source. ( asymmetric knowledge is how you gain advantage ... always has been )

I'm pro open source for clout building and disruptive tech.

That's not how memes work. Nobody wants to disseminate the logo. It's useless baggage and will be trimmed. Only pure memes without distraction will travel far.

Content marketing exists so we don’t have to drown in useless ads. It’s how companies earn attention by sharing ideas and values, not just selling products.

Not all memes are born out of kids with nothing else to do, and we can't base education about bitcoin on those

You want fewer ads? Support the companies creating content of value.

Content marketing is what keeps this space human. Without that there would be no memes in the first place.

I don't disagree, but I don't make the rules. Just pointing out what happens when someone finds something worth sharing. They distill the meme to its essence. The purer and closer to the subjective truths of nodes truth, the further it travels in the network.
