I download my wallet apps direct from Github using Obtanium on my Android devices.
What's obtanium?
I was afraid to ask myself.

Can't find how to install it? Is there an APK of the latest version somewhere on their GitHub page to download?
Yes on a GitHub repo you click on releases, each release has apks to download.
Here’s the link to the latest release. Under assets, locate the appropriate architecture for your device (probably v8a), then download the apk and install. Asset name app-arm64-v8a-release.apk

This just shows that freedom is not separable. Freedom of speech is freedom of transaction is software freedom. Freedom of speech and/or transaction within corporate walled gardens is just an illusion that can be taken away at any point.
This is why Android open source projects are so important. GrapheneOS, CalysOS, Direct .APK files, Obtainium, F-Droid etc. All easy alternatives around these walled gardens.
This was inevitable and why we should do away with using services like the play store.

Been working on wallet.bitcoinjungle.app for just this purpose. Have push notifications working now. iOS had a bug recently that prevented using the camera when installed as PWA. I think it’s been fixed in latest iOS update, haven’t tested thoroughly yet.

The war on open source is coming.
Between this and zaps on apple, they are prepping for a mass censorship of bitcoin applications. They are finally realizing what this means for them. The stores are a pretty yuge attack vector and they know it. I'm guessing zaps on android about to be attacked. This is probably being pushed by the White House downward to big tech, if the twitter files are anything to go by.
